About the Artist

Marisol Sturt is an Emerald Coast–based artist whose work translates the movement and emotional depth of Gulf waters into textured abstraction.

Born and raised along this coastline, her relationship to the Gulf is lived rather than observed. The shifting tide, translucent shallows, and offshore depth shaped how she understands stillness, movement, and emotional weight long before this region became widely sought after.

Rather than painting landscape, Sturt uses water as a visual language. Built surfaces and layered textures echo the rhythm of tide and current, allowing each piece to hold both calm and turbulence, clarity and depth.

Rooted in place but not confined to it, her work explores the steady movement beneath changing surfaces, translating what it feels like to live within the rhythm of the Gulf.

There is continuity here. A before and after. A perspective that comes from growing alongside a place as it evolves.

That lived intimacy is what I carry into my work.
